How Do I Know if I’m Running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 10?

Introduction

Windows 10, originally released in 2015, is Microsoft’s operating system (OS) successor to Windows 8.1. The current version/build will be supported through at least 2020. Windows 10 continues to receive new builds on a regular basis, at no additional cost to users.

Pre-Launch Checklist

  • This article is intended for Windows 10 only (though it may apply to other versions of Windows).
  • This article is intended for builds 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903 (though it may apply to other builds).
  • These instructions are for determining if you’re running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 10.

Step #1: Open Windows 10 Settings

To open the Windows 10 Settings view, simply use the following keystrokes: Windows Key + I
The Windows Key is generally in the bottom left quadrant of your keyboard. It is represented by the Windows logo: Windows Key. Press the Windows Key and the I key together. A new window should appear that looks similar to this:

Step #2: View the Windows 10 System Settings

Next you’ll click on System (highlighted with a grey box in the previous image). This should take you to a page that looks like this…

Step #3: View About Windows 10

Next you’ll click on About in the right hand column/menu. This should take you to a page that looks like this…

The green arrow points to a line for the System type, which shows that my desktop is running the 64-bit operating system version of Windows 10. That’s it! We hope you found this article helpful.
